Some of the Faro activities enjoyed in the the region include hiking, sightseeing, kayaking, swimming, backpacking, canoeing, mountain biking, fishing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing and more.

Hiking. The small community has created a hiking trail network throughout the area. The network consists of single track trails and old gravel roads. There are some easy going trails and there are some tough, mountain hikes. The Van Gorder Falls Trail is a favorite in the region suitable for families. The Mt. Mye and Grouse Trails are more challenging.
Backpacking. There are some wilderness backpacking adventures in the area. Many are not well developed yet, but known by locals, like the overnight hikes leading to Rose Mountain and Faro Peak. Some are historical hikes, traveled for decades, connecting communities like the 67 kilometre Dena Cho Trail.
Sightseeing. Not only can you sightsee you can learn about the Yukon wilderness. Sightseeing destinations like the Faro Arboretum, Sheep Mountain Lookout and the Van Gorder Trail all have viewing platforms for sightseeing. The arboretum educates you on fauna and flora. The Van Gorder Trail views a waterfall and Sheep Mountain observe Fannin Sheep.
Wildlife Sightings. There are destinations like the Mt. Mye Sheep Centre and the Sheep Mountain Lookout which are designed for wildlife sightings. Both include interpretive signs and viewing decks for viewing Fannin Sheep. Adventures in the wilderness back country will possibly produce wildlife sightings of bears, moose, wolves, coyotes, fox, lynx, beaver and others.
Mountain Biking. There are back country roads, old mining routes and recreation trails for mountain biking. The biking routes are wilderness routes, all purpose, shared trails. There is no dedicated mountain biking area. There are many trails near the village like the Wolf, Fox, Bear and Rabbit Trails. There are some long haul bike rides like the 67 kilometre Dena Cho Trail.
Canoeing/Kayaking. There are easy access lakes with picnic areas and boat launches for canoeing and kayaking like at Fisheye Lake. There are portage routes leading to canoe destinations like Cousins Lake. There are river kayak routes like the Pelly River which historically was traveled by the First Nation people and fur traders.
Fishing. There are lake trout, arctic grayling, northern pike and kokanee salmon in the lakes around Faro. You can enjoy shore fishing, fly fishing and trolling on the lakes in the region. There are easy access fishing lakes like Fisheye Lake. There are lakes which are remote at the end of dirt roads like Black Powder Lake. Some lakes can only be fished after a good hike like Dickson and Cousins Lakes.
Cross Country Skiing. There are back country roads, old mining routes and recreation trails for xc skiing. The ski routes include short day trips and long haul wilderness adventures. The Dena Cho Trail is a 67 kilometre cross country ski route in the winter. Closer to town, shorter ski trails, include the Rabbit and Eagle Trails.
Snowmobiling. During winter, many of the gravel roads, recreation trails and highway shoulders become snowmobile routes. Snowmobiles are the transportation of choice for many people during the winter. Snowmobile routes include the Wolf, Grouse, Fox, Bear, Rabbit and Dena Cho Trails.
