Bear Trail : Faro, Yukon, CanadaBear Trail is a recreation adventure in the Campbell Region in the community of Faro, Yukon Territory, Canada. The community trail circles the village of Faro providing views of the community and a river valley. The highlight of the recreation route are the far reaching views over looking Pelly River and the surrounding valley. The Bear Trail follows along an old gravel road and single track trail. Most of the route follows a single track trail. There are sections of the trail hiking through the forest, along a ridge, up hills and through grass fields. The loop route enjoys activities like hiking and mountain biking in the summer months. During the winter the trail becomes a snowmobile route. The route is a loop route with a couple of roads connecting the two trailheads. There is a trailhead on Dawson Drive and there is a trailhead on the Van Gorder Trail. Both trailheads are connected, essentially, by McQuesten Road and Dawson Drive. From Dawson Drive in the community of Faro the trail begins by following Van Gorder Creek. Follow the creek valley to a natural viewpoint overlooking Pelly River. From the viewpoint the trail meanders back towards the town eventually crossing over Blind Creek Road. Just up Blind Creek Road is a trailhead for the Rabbit Trail. For the Bear Trail, cross the road and continue around the long corner following the same line as Douglass Drive. There is a connector trail on Douglass Drive accessing the Bear Trail. Continue around the long corner of the Bear Trail and there are two more trailheads. One belongs to the Eagle Trail and the other to the Fox Trail. From here the Bear Trail continues for about 1.5 kilometres until it connects to the Van Gorder Trail. Here.. where the two trails meet is the other trailhead entrance for the Bear Trail. Be aware you are in Bear Country. Always make noise in the wilderness and when confronted by wildlife always give them the right of way. When enjoying the wilderness always prepare for your adventure by dressing in layers and bringing plenty of water.
