Horseback Riding

Horsback riding in the Yukon Territory is enjoyed in some of the regions in the Yukon Territory. Horseback riding routes follow gravel backcountry roads and recreation trails into remote mountain passes and river valleys.

Unless you bring your own horse to the Yukon Territory, most enjoy a horseback riding adventure with one of the local guest ranches or horseback riding outfitters.

There are day rides and multi-day rides provided by the local horseback riding outfitters. Most will include lessons. Multi-day horseback riding adventures usually will include an interpretive guide, accommodations and meals on top of the lessons.

There are many horseback riding destinations in the Yukon Territory. Too many to list here. However, we have provided a short list of some of the more popular horseback riding destinations located in the Yukon Territory.

Haines Junction is home to the Kluane National Park and Reserve. There are gravel roads, wagon roads and recreation trails that lead to mountain valleys and alpine meadows. Some of the horseback riding routes in the region include the Alsek Trail, Mush Lake Road and Slims East Trail.

Throughout the Silver Trail Region there are horseback riding destinations near the community of Mayo & Stewart Crossing. Throughout the Southern Lakes Region are a selection of popular backcountry horseback riding destinations like Montana Mountain and Mount Lorne .

Whitehorse and the surrounding communities are home to most of the horseback riding outfitters. Some of the riding destinations in Whitehorse include Lake Laberge, Grizzly Mountain and the Miner Mountain Range area.
