Ma Yongsheng honored with naming of asteroid

Wang Yupu and Zhu Lilan awarded Ma Yongsheng a brass plaque of “Ma Yongsheng Asteroid”.

Asteroid No. 210292 has been named after Ma Yongsheng, Vice President of Sinopec Group and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Wang Yupu, Chairman of Sinopec, and Zhu Lilan, Director of selecting committee of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, awarded him a brass plaque of “Ma Yongsheng Asteroid” at a ceremony on July 27.

Ma Yongsheng is a pioneer of marine carbonate oil-gas exploration study as well as a main contributor for the discovery of Puguang gas field and Yuanba gas field.

The naming was suggested by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, applied by the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and approved by the International Astronomical Union Minor Planet Center.
