- Sightseeing. In the community of Carcross, Yukon there are sightseeing opportunities including the many heritage buildings, the White Pass & Yukon Route Train Station and the Carcross Footbridge crossing over Bennett Lake. Take a driving tour and explore out of town and there are even more sightseeing destinations like the Bove Island Lookout, Robinson Roadhouse and Emerald Lake.

- Mountain Biking. Montana Mountain is an old mining mountain in Carcross, Yukon. The packhorse mining trails and backcountry gravel roads have been converted into a Yukon style mountain bike park complete with looping trails , some downhill and some trick runs.

- Fishing. Carcross is situated on the shores of Bennett Lake. It is kitty corner to Tagish, Tutshi, Nares and Marsh Lakes. The community is in the heart of the Southern Lakes region of the Yukon. There are many lakes and boating routes leading to fishing holes of Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling. A fishing licence is required to fish in the Yukon.

- Canoeing. Canoeing in the Southern Lakes region of the Yukon is a treat. The canoe routes are the same routes used by the early pioneers. Many of the lakes and rivers connect. From Carcross, one can canoe from Bennett Lake to Tagish Lake to Marsh Lake and then to the Yukon River and into Whitehorse.

- Horseback Riding. The mountains and the selection of backcountry gravel roads in the region provide some good horseback riding trails in the region. Montana Mountain and Mount Lorne are two of the horseback riding destinations in the region.

- Wildlife Watching. The region around Tagish and Marsh Lakes is full of lakes and forests. It is an ideal environment for Wildlife Watching. Wildlife sightings are often enjoyed while hiking, canoeing, fishing and boating in the region. Watch for bears, moose, caribou, eagles, fox and beavers.

- Birdwatching. Being that there are many lakes in the area plus that many of the lakes fall under the migratory paths of birds - there are many opportunities for birdwatching. Arrive in the spring and you most likely may see groups of migrating swans that arrive in the region every year.

- Boating. There are many waterways in the Southern Lakes region for boating. The main waterways in the Carcross area for boating include Bennett Lake, Tagish Lake, Nares Lake and Tutshi Lake. Boat launches are located on most lakes. There are small boat rentals and sightseeing tour companies operating in the region.

- Dog Sledding. In the winter months the mountains, trails and backcountry gravel roads are covered in snow. There are sledding companies operating in the region. Lorne Mountain, north of Carcross is well known as a training ground for dog sledders who compete in the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod.

- Snowmobiling. The backcountry roads and community side streets become snowmobile routes for many during the winter months. Some of the snowmobile destinations include Montana Mountain, Carcross Desert and the Mount Lorne area.
